CLAYTON, CARMAN, MCKISSICK

Clara Carman Clayton was born in Atchison County, Missouri, on October 16, 1862, and passed away at the home of her sister. Mrs. Maude Logan, near Tarkio, Missouri, on Tuesday, April 15, 1941, aged 88 years, 6 months, 29 days.

She was married to John Robert Clayton, on March 24, 1880, and to this union three children were born. The children were Esther Clayton McKissick, who passed away on July 17, 1928, and Ralph and Earl, both of whom reside at Hamburg. The husband passed away on June 23, 1929. Mrs. Clayton is survived by her two sons, one grandchild, Robert McKissick, and one great grandchild, Royal Lance McKissick, of San Angelo, Texas.

She spent her entire life in and near Hamburg for the past several years, having made her home with her sister, Mrs. Maude Logan, near Tarkio, Missouri.

Mrs. Clayton was a woman who was beloved by all who knew her. She was always of a pleasant disposition, finding joy at all times in extending kindnesses to others. She was one of the pioneers of this section, and took great pride in watering and helping with the growth and improvement of the community.

Funeral services were held at the Mansfield Funeral Home in Hamburg, on Thursday afternoon, April 17th, conducted by Mrs. R.C. Hovender, Reader, of Shenandoah, Iowa. Interment was made in the Hamburg Cemetery.
