Charles Hawthorne of Shenandoah was killed by a Wabash train near Strahan. He was put off the train following a dispute about payment, and evidently fell under the wheels. The body was discovered in the morning, but lay by the roadside until 10 a. m. before the news of the tragedy reached the family in Shenandoah.
