William Henry, son of Oliver and Cathryn(sic) Rainey, was born December 23, 1909, on a farm near Tabor in Fremont county, Iowa. He passed away of a heart attack suddenly at his home in Glenwood, January 24, 1945, aged 35 years, 1 month and one day.
"Bill" as he was known to his friends, attended the Possum Valley Sunday School. His early childhood was spent on a farm near Tabor, where he attended rural school, later Tabor High School. He was married to Kathrine Thomas, November 26, 1832 (should be 1932). To this union four children were born; Maxine Elaine 10, Billy Allen 9, Betty Lou 6, and Kathleen Ann 1; all of whom survive. Previous to his death he was employed at the Alcohol Plant in Omaha.
William was the youngest of a family of seven children; five sisters; Mrs. Anna Kesterson, Thurman; Mrs. Thurza Edlund, Malvern; Nora Rainey, Glenwood; Mrs. Pauline Proctor, Hastings; one brother, Edward of Glenwood. All of whom survive with the mother, their father preceded him a year ago last December.
He was a kind father and husband and will be greatly missed in the home circle.
Funeral services were held at James' Chapel Saturday afternoon at 2:30 with Rev. Leroy M. Zook in charge. Mary Evelyn Logan sang "Beautiful Garden of Prayer" and "Jesus understands". Interment was in the Glenwood Cemetery.
