George W. Iiams
George W. Iiams dies at his home in Sidney, Sunday night Dec. 14, 1902 between the hours of 11 and 12 o'clock, George W. Iiams aged 83 years, 2 months, 15 days.
George W. Iiams was born about four miles from Columbus, Franklin Co., Ohio, October 3, 1819 and at the age of nine years came with his parents to Jay county, Indiana. He was united in marriage to Miss Matilda Overman, in Grant county, Indiana, in 1846 [Sept. 3] To this union five children were born; three of whom survive their parents, as on April 4, 1902, the wife and mother departed this life.
In the spring of 1872 the family came to Fremont county, and located at Sidney which has since been their home. Mr. Iiams was held in high esteem by a large circle of friends who speak in admiration of the exempliary life he lived.
The funeral sermon was preached Tuesday at 11 o'clock at the house by Rev. Dickinson, at the close of the sermon interment was made in the Sidney cemetery.
Note: Matilda Overman was born November 1819 in Highland Co., Ohio. she was the daughter of Elijah Overman and Mahala Burson. George Iiams was the s/o Jesse Iiams and Mary Ann Dawson. Children of George & Matilda Iiams were:

Married Thomas A. Irwin. 3. John William Iiams b. Aug. 1, 1853 Marion Grant Co., In. d. Dec. 13, 1926 Sidney, Fremont Co., Iowa. Married Rebecca Burson. 4. Mary Ann Iiams b. August 25, 1856 Grant Co., Indiana d. March 25, 1934 Sidney, Fremont Co., Iowa married Joshua Small Ballinger. 5. Haven't identified[Fremont Co. Herald, 12-18-1902, front page col. 2]
