COURT OF PROBATE FREMONT CO. STATE OF IOWA
In vacation October the 11th 1851

Know all men by these presents, that I James Nichols of the County of Fremont, State of Iowa, being of sound mind do hereby make this my last will and testament making all and other former wills testaments or codicils by me made and so hereby appoint that my goods and chattels lands and tenaments be and are hereby disposed to the following persons viz first that Keziah Nichols my eldest daughter shall receive of my personal property the sum of twenty dollars. Also Cintha P. Nichols my second daughter have the like sum of twenty dollars, and Clarisa O. Nichols, my third daughter and youngest daughter also have the like sum of twenty dollars. Also that my son Nephi M. Nichols also receive the like sum of twenty dollars at or after my decease, and the rest of my estate both real and personal I hereby give to my good and lawful wife Polly Nichols including all claims which I have on the estate of James L. Nichols, formerly of New York, now deceased, and that the said Polly Nichols is hereby empowered to sell or convey the same in the same manner as I my self could do and to sue for and recover all personal goods and chattels and receipt for the same and all real estate to sell, deed or convey in each one all the several premises in the same manner which I myself could do. In witness whereof I the said James Nichols has hereunto set my name and affixed my seal this 24th day of May in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and fifty one, and
Said Polly Nichols is hereby appointed my administratrix. Signed James Nichols
