Hume - Jean Mann; ed Grandview HS 1884; Tabor Coll, Western Normal Coll, Shenandoah 1884-85; m Eunice Crandal Feb 27, 1889 Fremont Co; s Fenton, Bryan R & John S; d Leona (Mrs Carl Ambler), Jessica (Mrs. Baynard Benson, Faith (Mrs. Faith Mann), Ruth (Mrs. Albert Shaw); prior to 1885 farmer with father; 1885-86 sch tchr Leavenworth Co Kas; 1886-89 farmer during summers, sch tchr during winters; 1889- farmer, Fremont Co, 1904- owner farm, now 400 A; past mbr sch bd several times; one of 1st contributors to fund to sponsor change in constitution to permit passing of drainage laws; has always been strong advocate of Missouri River bottom land drainage; Dem; hobby: fishing; has original entry & patent on grandfathers farm signed by Pres Pierce 1854, also papers signed by grandfather & grandmother more than 75 years ago conveying farm to father; has split hickory chair woven by father 70 years ago; has colt revolver of which his father gave a yoke of oxen for the barrel during Civil War; res Rt 1 Thurman.
