SHOT HIMSELF WHEN CAUGHT

In an effort to arrest Sam Callahan, John Alberson, city marshal of Hamburg, was shot, the wound not thought a fatal one. Callahan, made his way homeward, east of town, but was soon overtaken by a posse of men who started in pursuit. Callahan in his fight for liberty shot himself through the hand. He was under the influence of liquor.
