Geneva - Funeral services for Edward Lewis Pekarek, 58, long-time resident of Cedar Rapids, a native of Geneva, were held at the Greenfield funeral home in Hampton Friday afternoon, with burial in Lindenwood cemetery at Geneva.

He died at the Veterans hospital at Des Moines Tuesday. Born Dec. 31, 1890, on a farm near Geneva, he grew to manhood here and enlisted at Mason City April 23, 1917, serving in the infantry in World war I.

Surviving are 2 daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Dirksen of Spencer and Mrs. Josephine Katz of Omaha, Nebr., a sister, Mrs. Frank Thomas of Geneva, and 4 brothers, Frank of Iowa Falls, Albert of Dumont, John of Hampton and George of Geneva.
