Last Rites Held for Hampton Woman
Funeral services for Mrs. Fred H. Menning, age seventy-eight, who passed away last Tuesday, September 25th, were held Friday afternoon at the Congregational church in Hampton. Rev. E. R. Sommerfeld, pastor of St. Paul's American Lutheran church in Hampton, was in charge of the final rites and burial was made in the Hampton cemetery.
Mrs. Fred H. Menning, nee Anna Marie Senf, was born October 10, 1872, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Senf, in Cook County, Illinois. She was baptized and confirmed at Bensenville, Illinois. In 1890 she came to Latimer with her parents where she was married to Fred H. Menning on February 23, 1893.
They made their home on a farm eight miles northwest of Hampton until in March 1927, when they retired and moved to Hampton. Mr. Menning passed away May 2, 1939. Mrs. Menning continued to make her home in Hampton until 1948 when due to ill health she moved to Latimer to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. William Bruns.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Bruns, of Latimer, and two sons, Herman Menning and William Menning, of Hampton and four grandchildren. She was a member of St. Paul's American Lutheran church in Hampton.
