Julius Freese, Town's Oldest Resident Dies
Funeral services for Julius Freese, age ninety-four, who passed away last Friday night at the home of his son, Adolph Freese, at Coulter, were held Tuesday afternoon at the Nazareth Lutheran church in Coulter. Rev. Gudmund Peterson was in charge of the final rites and burial was made in the Coulter cemetery.
Julius Freese was born in Slesvig, Denmark, May 27, 1857, and came to America in 1881 and settled in Franklin county. He was united in marriage to Sarah Schmidt October 28, 1886. To this union four children were born.
In 1907, Mr. and Mrs. Freese moved to Coulter where Mrs. Freese died on February 18, 1915, and Mr. Freese had made his home there since that time. He was a member of the Lutheran church in Coulter.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Mary Dixon of Kerkhaven, Minnesota, and three sons, Jens Freese, of Coulter, Chris P. Freese, of Kalespell, Montana, Adolph Freese, of Coulter. He is also survived by two brothers, Chris Freese, of Wilmar, Minnesota, and Tom Freese, of Vale, Oregon, fourteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.
