Dows - On Thursday last week, news came over the wire of the death of Rev. Samuel Chappell, father of Mrs. D.W. Bowman of this place. He died on Wednesday at the residence of his son, Rev. E.S. Chappell in Chicago. The remains were sent here for burial, arriving Friday morning.

The funeral of Rev. Samuel Chappell was held at the Presbyterian church Friday afternoon. The services were conducted by the pastor, Rev. Cummings assisted by Rev. Troutman and Rev. Fatland. The deceased was well known in these parts in earlier times as an evangelist, whose labors as such led him to Ohio, Illinois, Missouri, Iowa and South Dakota. At the time of his death he was 86 years years of age. He was the father of seven children, one of whom is the wife of our well know townsman, D.W. Bowman. Burial was at Mt. Hope.
