David L. Wiemann, 77, Indianola, died January 3, 2019 at Good Samaritan Society in Indianola. Services were held January 7 at Ewing Funeral Home in Belmond. Burial was at the Alexander Cemetery.

David Lee, the son of John and Bena (Olsen) Wiemann, was born April 2, 1941 on the family farm near Alexander, the sixth of ten children. He was educated in Alexander and graduated with the class of 1959. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army.

David served a total of 14 years on bases in the United States, Europe and Vietnam. His service included being a platoon sergeant. He was very proud to serve his country.

David married Gloria Lesher at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. To this union, two daughters were born. The couple later divorced.

Fond family memories include traveling across Europe, including Switzerland and Italy.

David was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Roger Wiemann, Lester Wiemann, Helen Miller and ex-wife Arlene.

He is survived by daughter Starla (Jerry) Chapman and their children Jennifer (Chase) Mikehl and Michael (Jessie) Chapman; daughter Denise “Susie” (Dave) Chapman and their children Shaun Chapman and Jessica (Kolby) Hamilton; great-grandchildren Bryson, Kinley, Kieranne (Kipi), Caellum, Jackson and Averie; and siblings Orville (DeLores) Wiemann, Marjorie (Ronald) Steenblock, Robert (Cheryl) Wie-mann, Barbara (Roger) Flaten, Dennis (Pam) Wiemann and Janet Kay (Merlin) Schlichting.
