Last Rites held Saturday for Nels K. Pedersen
Nels K. Pedersen, age ninety, of Coulter, passed away Thursday morning at his home. Death was due to complications of old age. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at St. John’s Lutheran church, at Coulter, with Rev. W.R. Garred officiating. Burial was made in the church cemetery. The Green and Siestema funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
Nels Kristian Pedersen was born June 27, 1873 at Vestervig, Thy, Denmark, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jans P. Pedersen. He came to the United States at the age of fifteen. He was engaged in the tiling contractor business and also engaged in farming. On March 23, 1897, he was married to Inger Marie Pedersen, at St. John’s Lutheran church, Coulter. In 1950 he retired and continued to make his home in Coulter.
He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Karen Christiansen, of Solvang, California, and three sons, Walter Pedersen and Stanley Pedersen, of Coulter, and Richard Pedersen, of Lanesboro. Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by by two sons, two grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Mr. Pedersen was a member of St. John’s Lutheran church, the D.B.S., and the IOOF lodge.
