Funeral services will be today for Casper Grandt Oct 1997
Casper H. Grandt of rural Sheffield passed away Saturday morning at the Franklin General Hospital in Hampton. He had been in failing health for some time. Funeral services will be held this afternoon Tuesday at 1:30 P.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church southwest of Hampton with David Larson officiating at the last rites. The William Funeral Home of Latimer is in charge of the arrangements.
He was born April 2, 1891 in Eesberg, Denmark the son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Henrick Grandt. He was raised and educated in Denmark and at the age of 21 moved to Coulter where he was employed in farm work and did tiling until being called into service during World War I. After his discharge he began farming in the Chapin area. On Sept. 20, 1941 he was married to Mardella Dreyer in Princeton, Mo. He retired from farming in 1955 but continued to make his home on the farm.
Mr. Grandt is survived by his wife, two daughters Mrs., Gayhart (Sharon) Thielen of Latimer and Diane at home, one son Kenneth of Thornton, four grandchildren, two brothers Sophus and Adolph in Denmark, and one sister Mrs. Christian (Andrea) Jacobsen in Denmark.
He was a member of St. John’s church, the Hanson-Have American Legion Post 658 of Latimer, Franklin County Barracks 1757, Veterans of World War I, the Danish Brotherhood of Latimer and the IOOF Lodge of Hampton.
