Final Rites Held for Hans J. Dixen

Funeral services were held at Harvey, North Dakota, last Wednesday at 2:00 o'clock, in the Trinity Lutheran church, for Hans J. Dixen, former Coulter resident, with Rev. G.A. Bretheim officiating. Rev. Marius Dixen, a cousin of the diseased, also brought a message.
Mr. Dixen was found dead under his plow Thursday, April 30th, at about 10:00 p.m. Evidence found showed that he had suffered a heart attack and had fallen under the plow.
He was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran church where he served as trustee since the congregation was organized.
Hans Jergen Dixen was born April 19, 1877, at Jels, Denmark, and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. At the age of fourteen he immigrated to this country with his parents and settled at Coulter. At the age of eighteen he began working as a surveyor’s helper and in 1902 he married miss Johanna Jensen, of Ringsted, Iowa. They moved to Chicago where he completed a course in civil engineering and he was actively engaged in this profession at different places throughout the country.
In 1916 he moved with his family to Divide county, North Dakota, settling in Daneville township where he engaged in farming, he served as Divide county surveyor. In 1937 he moved to the farm in Sheridan county about fifteen miles west of Harvey, where he resided until his death.
He leaves his wife and six children and three grandchildren. Three children preceded him in death. The surviving children are Bernhart Dixen, at home, Myrtle, of Minneapolis. James and Louis, of Seattle, Mrs. Chester Hovland, of Harvey, and Jens Dixen, of Willmar, Minnesota, and two sisters, Mrs. L.P. Nelson, of Fraxton, and Mrs. Carrie Thorup, of Coyote, California
