Blacksmith Hangs Himself at Home (Courier Special Service)
Hampton. Ia. John Damm, 56-year-old resident of Coulter, committed suicide Sunday, May 19, by hanging himself In the basement of his home. Mrs. Damm and the two children were not at home. They had been gone since Saturday visiting relatives. The body was found by a neighbor at 6:30 p. m. Sunday.
Dr. John Martin. Franklin county coroner was notified. He said that Mr. Damm had been dead about 18 hours.
Mr. Damm had resided in Coulter for a number of years where he operated a blacksmith shop, He had lived in Franklin county the greater part of his life At one time he conducted a blacksmith shop at Latimer.
Despondency ' was believed the cause of his taking his own life He is survived by his widow, one son and one daughter residing at home. Funeral services will be conducted at Coulter noon. Burial will be made at Lutheran church Wednesday afternoon.CLIPPED FROM
