Christensen Elizabeth ”Betty” 1930-2019

Elizabeth “Betty” Christensen passed away on October 16, 2019 in New Carlisle, OH. She was born on September 5, 1930 to Alexandria and Anton Hansen in Hampton, IA. Betty’s parents, brother Ernhardt, sisters Rigmor, Evelyn, Arla, Helga, and her husband Ernst proceeded her.
Betty attended school in Hampton and latter attended Grandview College in Des Moines, IA where she met and married Ernst Christensen in September 1950. In 1951 the family settled in Southold, NY where they joined St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Greenport, NY. She was the church organist for many years. In 1978 Betty relocated in Santa Barbara, CA until 2010. Her family helped move Betty to Williamsburg, VA to be closer and they all moved her to her final residence in New Carlisle, OH.
Betty is survived by her sons John (Linda) and Michael (Denice), her daughter Leslie, four grandchildren Jesse (Xavier), Alastair (Remi), Callahan, Erick, and three great grandchildren Enzo, Charlotte, and Emma. She dearly loved her family and her church and will be greatly missed.
A graveside service is scheduled to be held at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hampton, IA on November 11, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be sent to Hospice of Dayton at http://www.hospiceofdayton.org/
