Ahrens Robert Vern 1929-2015

Robert Vern Ahrens, 86, died Sunday, August 23, 2015 in Mansfield, TX following a long illness.

Robert was born on April 2, 1929 on a farm in Butler County Iowa. He graduated from Dumont High School in 1947, and the University of Northern Iowa in 1956. Most of his employment was spent in education, 30 years at Madison Area Tech College as Marketing Administrator. Following retirement from MATC, he moved to a farm in Iowa County, Wisconsin.

Bob joined the Air Force in 1951 -1955, serving in the Far East, Japan, and Korea.
Secondary to employment, Bob enjoyed outdoor sports including hunting and fishing.

He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Sena Heilskov Ahrens, three children, Michael Ahrens, Barneveld, WI, Lisa (James) Broussard, Mansfield, TX, and Craig (Sandy) Ahrens, Overland Park, KS. He is further survived by 6 grandchildren: Erin (Zach) Weir, Megan and Kirsten Broussard, Brianna, Cara, and Travis Ahrens. He is also survived by his sister, Bonnie (Mike)Fielding, Hampton, IA, sister-in-law, Agnes Allinson, Hampton, IA, and brother-in-law, Ken (Bonnie) Heilskov, Des Moines, IA.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Marguerite Harrison Ahrens and Vern R. Ahrens and his sister, Barbara Ahrens.
