J. J. Maxwell is No More

J. J. Maxwell was born in Glencolumbkille, county Donegal, Ireland, and when a young man left his native country and went to England where he made his home for two years.

From England he came to this country in 1871 and in 1872 was united in marriage to Miss Ellen Brown, in Xenia, Ohio. To this union were born seven children, four of whom survive to mourn the loss of their father. The beloved wife and helpmeet, whose life was ever faithful and true to him whose name she bore, is still living.

The surviving children are Mrs Susie Nelson of Rockwell; Mrs Jennie Cutler of Dougherty, and Samuel M. and John A. Maxwell who reside at the farmhome east of Dougherty.

Mr. Maxwell leaves a brother James Maxwell of Rockwell.

The children deceased are Mrs. Julia Cutler, James Francis Maxwell and an infant son.
Four years after marriage deceased moved to Iowa and settled on a farm near Dougherty, where he made his home until the time of his death,which occured Saturday morning February 6, 1909 at 6:30 o'clock.

Mr. Maxwell was a member of the Episcopal church since childhood, an honest upright man, rearing his family by an example of virtue and truth.
Industrious and temperate, he was a good citizen, a loving husband and a kind and indulgent father whose presence in the family circle and community will be very much missed.

Death was the result of chronic Bright's disease.
The entire family were present at the bedside when he departed this life.

Funeral services were held at the Coldwater Baptist Church on Monday , Rev. L. W. Inman preaching the funeral sermon and interment took place in Halltown Cemetery.
