Virginia Jane Ubben, 74, of Dumont, died Friday, March 16, at home, in Dumont, Iowa. She was born April 20, 1937, at a farm in rural Ackley, daughter of Oarn and Irene Harms Rieman. She married Richard Ubben on Jan. 20, 1955, at the Lutheran Parsonage in Hampton. Virginia attended rural schools in Allison and Hampton. She worked at several jobs in the area, including as a certified nursing assistant at the Dumont Care Center for nearly 30 years. She also helped on the family farm near Dumont. Virginia had been a Ladies Guild treasurer, Sunday School teacher and member of the A&K Club. She enjoyed cooking, family gatherings, making flower arrangements and attending grandchildren's activities. She is survived by her husband Richard Ubben of Dumont, two daughters, Sandra (Jim) Nelson of Iowa Falls and Carmen (Merle) Hinz of Waterloo, a son, Eugene (Darla) Ubben of Conrad; nine grandchildren, Karen (Paul) Link, Sara and Tina Hinz, Lydia, Aaron and Leah Nelson and Conner, Samantha and Madison Ubben, a brother, Merlyn Rieman of Hampton and a sister, Frances (Gary) Riles of Dougherty. She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister-in-law, Judy Rieman.

Burial will take place at the Dumont Cemetery in Dumont, Iowa
