Clair Henry Polmateer, 76, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2016, at Franklin General Hospital in Hampton. He was born on January 11, 1940, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Emil and Lillian (Rieken) Polmateer. Clair graduated from Hampton High School. He served his country in the United States Air Force. Clair was united in marriage to Patricia Varrelman on January 30, 1985, in Iowa Falls, Iowa. He was a press operator for United Hydraulics. Clair was a member of the American Legion. He collected coins, John Deere items, John Wayne memorabilia, and was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan. Clair is survived by his children Paulette Polmateer, Martha (Chuck) Falk, Chad (Jami) Miller, Penny (Leroy) Miller, Pam Hansen and Curt (Jamie) Johnson, grandchildren Marissa (Shellie) Cornelsen, Brett (Mariah Morris) Cornelsen, Garrett Cornelsen, Louis Falk, Oliver Falk, Elizabeth Kester, Rebekah Miller, Rachel Miller, Nicole Woods, Alicia (Chip Evans) Miller, Brandon Miller, Cole (Rachael) Hansen, Sam (Kyle) Janssen, Storm Johnson, Jacobi Johnson and Tripp Johnson, great-grandchildren Roselynn, Allister, Caden, Carter, Ryleigh, Beckett and Mason, sisters Myrna Beal and Arlene (Clayton) Field, sisters-in-law Barb Herrera, Sandy (Dave) Smith and Debbie Wagner, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Emil and Lillian, wife Patricia, and two grandbabies.
