Edward R. Koch, age 92, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on April 2, 2011 at the Springfield Medical Center. Edward was born on October 29, 1918, to Alfred and Nikolene Koch. He was one of nine siblings. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of almost 50 years, Bonita; his parents; his brothers Albert, Harry, Bill, and Walter; his sisters Elizabeth, Helen, Marlene, Verna and Ruth. After Bonnie's death, Edward lived in New Ulm, Minnesota for several years but never let us forget that he was still an Iowa farmer at heart. Edward's passion for farming was only exceeded by his love of baseball. A lifetime Yankees fan, he never tired of telling his baseball experiences, which included meeting Babe Ruth at a try out camp in the 1930s.

Edward is survived by his son Gary and wife Joleen of New Ulm, Minnesota, his son Jeff and his companion Cindy Hohenfield, of Nora Springs, Iowa, his daughter Patricia and her husband Brian Foster, of New Ulm, Minnesota; grandchildren Allison Jones, Laura Koch, Kevin and wife Julie Koch, Dustin Koch, Isabella Foster and Earl Foster; his sister Delores Niess; his sister-in-law Geraldine Koch and his brother-in-law Hank Vierkant.

Edward was a veteran of World War II - serving in the 82nd Airborne Division. He was a proud member of the American Foreign Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Burial will take place in the Hampton Cemetery.

Military services provided by the Hampton Veterans Memorial Association.
