Geraldine D. Koch, 93, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away Saturday, November 22, 2014, at Franklin Country View Nursing Facility in Hampton. She was born on August 21, 1921, in Hampton, Iowa, to Gerald and Edna (Wallace) Koch. Geraldine was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist Faith. She graduated from Hansell High School and from Iowa Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Geraldine began teaching in Aredale, Iowa, and then taught in Hartley, Forest City, Marshalltown and Hampton. After retiring from forty-two years of teaching, she was a hospice volunteer for several years. She was a member of the Hansell Methodist Church, where she played organ there for many years; she also played the organ for many funerals at Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton. Geraldine was an avid gardener and traveler. She was a fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Minnesota Twins. Geraldine is survived by her brother Delmar (Gladys) Koch of Sheffield, nephew Kirby (Carolyn) Koch of Iowa Falls, niece Karen (Denny) Feeley of Albert City, niece Kim (Bob) Jensen of Sheffield, nephew Kent (Cindy) Koch of Sheffield, nephew Steve (Jeannie) Koch of Ft. Dodge, niece Kae (Rich) Stuhr of Shelby, niece Patti Hintz (Tim) of Rochester, Minnesota, nephew Alan (Jodi) Koch of Azle, Texas, and several great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Gerald and Edna and nephew Kevin Koch.
Burial will take place in the Hampton Cemetery.
