Susan Marie Blau, 62, of Alexander, Iowa, passed away at her home in Alexander on Monday October 14, 2013, surrounded by her husband and children. She was born July 20, 1951, in Hampton, Iowa, to Willard and Leona (Hansen) Meyer. Susan graduated from CAL High School in 1969. As a parent Susan continued to be involved in many ways including volunteering, helping with class room parties, and participated in many school betterment committees. She was united in marriage to Richard Blau on May 22, 1971, at the St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Hampton, Iowa. During their 42 years of marriage they raised ponies and farmed the family farm in rural Alexander. Susan worked at the Alexander Post Office for twenty two years; she also worked at the Bloemke Pharmacy in Belmond. Susan was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Hampton, Iowa, where she was active in Ladies Aid, Bible School, Sunday School and many other church functions. Susan enjoyed cross stitching, reading, baking and spending time with family. She is survived by her husband Richard Blau of Alexander, son Heath and wife Gina Blau of Latimer, daughter Michele and husband Blake Greenfield of Clarion, son Nicholas and wife April Blau of Larchwood, mother Leona Meyer of Coulter, brother Jeff and wife Sally Meyer of Newton, grandchildren Clair Blau and fiancé Troy Shipper, Jacob Blau, Tyler Greenfield, Kylie Greenfield, Elise Blau, Jay Blau and Jack Blau, great granddaughter Emma Shipper. She was preceded in death by her father.

Burial will take place Alexander Cemetery in Alexander.
