ACKLEY — Mary Ann Cobie, 80, of Ackley, died Thursday, July 13, at Grand JiVante Nursing Home, Ackley.

She was born May 23, 1937, daughter of Otto and Jennie (Riebkes) Winters of Ackley. She graduated from Ackley High School in 1955. Mary Ann married Bernie Cobie on March 9, 1956, at the Evangelical United Brethren Church, Ackley. She was a homemaker, a lifelong member of East Friesland Church, as well as a member of the Ackley Country Club, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Prairie Girls.

Survivors: a son, Rick (Darla) of Ackley; a daughter, Paula (Mike) Abbas of Ackley; five grandchildren, Ryan (Cait) Abbas of Olathe, Kan., Joshua (Lindsey) Cobie of Eldridge, Lindsey (James) Borlaug of Ankeny, Alyssa (Tracy) Cobie-Nuss of West Union and Jordan (Cortanie) Cobie of Ackley; five great-grandchildren, Lorelei and Harper Abbas, George and Charlee Cobie and Evelyn Borlaug; a sister, Dolores (Gordon) Delly of Iowa Falls; and a brother, Dr. Paul (Bonnie) Winters of Mesa, Ariz.

Preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; a brother, Vernon Winters; a sister-in-law, LaVine (Harms) Winters; and her special companion, Harlyn Meester.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 17, at East Friesland Presbyterian Church with burial in the Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation is 3 to 5 p.m. today at Sietsema Funeral Home, Ackley.
