Marie Jessen, 83, Hampton, died Friday, March 25, 2005, at the Hampton Care Center.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 29, at the St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Hampton, with the Rev. Mary Petersen officiating. Burial was in the St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery. Rural Hampton. Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home, Hampton, was in charge of the arrangements.

Marie was born July 2, 1921, in Alexander to Christian and Marie E. (Becker) Yakel. She was raised in Alexander and received her education in the Alexander schools.

On September 17, 1938, in Ft. Dodge, Marie married Leo Jessen. She was a farm wife.

Marie was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Hampton. She was a member of the Women's ELCA. Marie enjoyed crocheting, fishing,, dancing, baking, cooking and making crafts, and she also enjoyed walking.

Living family members include many nieces and nephews.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leo, two sisters; Katherine and Amelia, six brothers; John, Henry, Chris, Roland, Kenneth and Robert.
