Caroline "Cal" Magdalina Bertha Jensen, 91, of rural Coulter, Iowa, passed away January 15, 2006, at her home in rural Coulter, Iowa. She was born February 7, 1914, to George and Caroline (Schomburg) Dohrmann on the family farm near Coulter.
She attended country schools and graduated from Latimer High School in 1932. She then went on to Ellsworth College and received her teaching certificate from Teachers College (UNI) and began teaching at local country schools. Later she taught in the Sheffield-Chapin School District.
On June 16, 1938, Cal was united into marriage to Evald Jensen and they became proud parents of their only child Carolyn "Joy". Together they farmed, raised chickens and hogs and had a Holstein dairy.
Cal was the former President of the St. John's Ladies Aid, WELCA, and taught Sunday School.
She was a member of the Coulter Community Auxiliary, the Franklin Consolidated Music Mothers, the National Education Association. She loved to read and do word searches.Caroline is survived by her daughter, Carolyn "Joy" & husband Jack Christiansen, of rural Coulter; two grandchildren; Dave Christiansen and wife Beverly of rural Coulter; Kelly Christiansen-Hansen and husband Steve of Kilkenny, Minnesota; four great grandchildren; Taylor Christiansen, Carley Christiansen, Cole Hansen and Kennedy Hansen.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Evald; four brothers; George, Christian, Bernard & Theodore Dohrmann, five sisters; Margaaret Dreyer, Mathilda Dohrmann, Florence Johnson, Hildegard Dohrmann and Fern Paullus and great granddaughter Christine Christiansen.
