Willard J. "Bud" Meyer, 82, of Coulter, Iowa, passed away April 3, 2011, at the Franklin General Hospital in Hampton, Iowa.

He was born November 11, 1928, at home in rural Dows, Iowa, to George and Mabel (Thompson) Meyer.

Bud graduated from the Belmond High School in 1946. He married Leona Hansen on June 12, 1949, at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Hampton, Iowa.

Bud retired from the National Guard in 1976, after serving twenty-three years. He was a district salesman for Farmers Hybrid and Jacques Seed Company, retiring in 1995. Bud was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, past Master member of the Masonic Lodge in Hampton, was also a member of the Hansen Have American Legion and served on the Church and City Councils. He enjoyed bowling, golf, fishing and was an avid Cubs and Hawkeye Fan.

Bud is survived by his wife Leona (Hansen) Meyer of Coulter, daughter Susan (Richard) Blau of Alexander, son Jeff (Sally) Meyer of Newton, grandson Heath (Gina) Blau of Latimer, granddaughter Michele (Blake) Greenfield of Woolstock, grandson Nicholas (April) Blau of Larchwood, granddaughter Candace (Troy) Honeycutt of Grinnell, grandson Nathan Meyer of Newton and granddaughter Jessica (Troy) Meyer of Newton, great grandchildren Clair & Jacob Blau, Tyler & Kylie Greenfield, Elise & Jay Blau and Ean & Evan Honeycutt.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Elaine Lumley, nephews Bob Lumley, Don Lumley, Jon Finlayson and Butch Lumley.

Military services provided by the American Legion Hansen Have Post 658. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.
