Janice Ann Rodda Miller, 83, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away Monday, March 30, 2015, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 3, 2015, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Hampton, Iowa, with Pastor Stanley Peterson officiating. Visitation was held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 2, 2015, at Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton. Burial took place in the St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Hampton.
Janice Ann Rodda Miller, 83, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away Monday, March 30, 2015, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa.
She was born on May 19, 1931, in Newell, Iowa, to Leon "Doc" and Ann (Andersen) Rodda. Janice graduated from Sulphur Springs High School and from Iowa State University, where she received a Bachelors Degree in Home Economics.
She was united in marriage to Leo Miller on August 1, 1954, in Newell, Iowa.
Janice was a home economics teacher for Hampton and Rockwell schools. She was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Hampton, being involved with the church council, ladies aid, quilting group and playing the organ and piano. Janice was an excellent pianist and loved to play. She enjoyed sewing, painting, water aerobics, gardening and reading. She also enjoyed traveling the world.
Janice is survived by her son Curt and wife Deb of Hampton, daughters Elise and husband Steve Henkels of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, and Kristie and husband Steve Shaffer of Hastings, Minnesota, and grandchildren Rachel Miller, Drew and wife Erin Henkels, Kelly Henkels, Jordan Shaffer and Alan Shaffer.
She was preceded in death by her parents Leon and Ann Rodda, husband Leo Miller and brother William Rodda.
