Funeral services for Vern S. Pascoe, who passed away at the Lutheran hospital in Hampton, Tuesday night, January 30th, are to be held Friday afternoon, February 2nd at 1:30 o'clock, at the Green funeral home and at 2:00 o'clock at the Methodist church in Hampton. Rev. D.M. Beggs, pastor of the Congregational church will be in charge of the final rites. Interment will be made in the Hampton cemetery.

Mr. Pascoe had been in failing health since 1932, but had become much worse this past summer. He was hospitalized at various times both at Rochester, Minnesota, and at the Lutheran hospital in Hampton.

Vern Pascoe, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Pascoe, was born September 28, 1890, on the old Pascoe farm west of Chapin. He attended the Chapin schools and also Iowa State College at Ames.

Mr. Pascoe served in the field artillery in World War I. He was inducted into the service on May 28, 1918, at Des Moines, where he remained until August 18, 1918, when he was sent to France. He returned from overseas duty on January 19, 1919.

On June 26, 1920, he was married to Etta Petheram. They lived in the Chapin vicinity until 1945 when they moved to Hampton, having to retire from the farm because of Mr. Pascoe's poor health.

He was a member of the Hampton Methodist church, the I.O.O.F., the American Legion and the V.F.W. At one time he served as commander of the American Legion Post at Chapin. He also served on the board of the Chapin Consolidated school for a number of years.

Mr. Pascoe is survived by his wife, three sisters, Mrs. Frank Philpott, Mrs. Clyde Petheram and Mrs. Charles Wurthman, of Chapin, and three brothers, Phil Pascoe, of Chapin, R.C. Pascoe, of Hampton, and W.N. Pascoe, of Sheffield, and a host of friends.
