Alexander, Iowa, Sept. 4 - Funeral services for H.C. Hansen, age sixty-one, of Belmond, former Alexander rural mail carrier, were conducted Monday at the Congregational church in Belmond, Rev. William Shorman officiated.

Mr. Hansen, a life-long resident of the Alexander-Belmond area, died late Thursday evening at his home. He had undergone surgery in Iowa City six weeks ago.

He was born October 5, 1891 in Alexander. He moved to Belmond nine years ago and had been a rural mail carrier for the last several years. Previously he had farmed near Alexander. He was married February 22, 1933 to Margaret Hall at Cambridge, Illinois. He was a veteran of World War I.

Survivors include his wife and three children, Sheila, Ronald and Karen, all of Belmond; three brothers, Merle Hansen, of Sheffield, Dick Hansen, of Belmond, and Wilbert Hansen, of Alexander, and a sister, Mrs. Ruth Nelson, of Kamrar. He was preceded in death by a sister in infancy.

Burial was made in the Alexander cemetery.
