Life-long Resident Dies After Short Illness.
Mrs. George Stokes of Hampton, passed away Monday, December 18th at the Lutheran hospital, in Hampton. She had been a patient there about five days. Funeral services were held this afternoon, Thursday, at 2:00 o'clock at the Church of Christ in Hampton, with the Rev. Russell A. Casey officiating. Burial will be made in the Upper Maynes Grove cemetery. The Green and Sietsema funeral home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Stokes, a life long resident of Franklin county was born March 25, 1880, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emery Merriss. She married March 4, 1903 to George Stokes in Franklin county.
Mrs. Stokes is survived by her husband, four sons, Compton Stokes of Garden Grove, California, Meryln Stokes of Mason City, Roy Stokes of Waterloo, and Wayne Stokes of Clear Lake; two daughters Mrs. Charles Brown of Renton, Washington and Mrs. R. J. Edwards of Fair Oakes, California, twelve grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and four brothers.
Mrs. Stokes was a member of the Church of Christ.
