On Monday, Ira Dean, an old gentleman, aged about 80 years old died very suddenly at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Mansfield, in Rock Grove township. He stopped at her house while on his way to Rudd, and complained of feeling unwell and asked for a little spirits to revive him. There was none in the house, so they sent to another daughter’s, Mrs. Hemphill, who sent him some. He drank about a teaspoon, sank back and died in a few minutes.

The cause of his sudden death is supposed to have been heart disease. Mr. Dean was one of the pioneers of this county, and had been always noted as a good citizen and a good man. He was father of Wm. Dean, of Rock Grove township.
