Skull Fractured by a Rock.
Charles City, June 3.—Yesterday afternoon while the crowd known here as the “Gizzard Crick Gang” were having a drunken spree one Frank Wiltse and his brother-in-law, Jerome Dow got into a fight. When Mrs. Dow attempted to separate them, her brother Frank Wiltse, struck her on the head with a stone, which he had intended should hit Dow. The blow was with such force as to fracture the skull. The woman is in a very precarious condition, and very little hopes are entertained for her recovery. As yet no arrests have been made.
LATER—Mrs. Dow died and Wiltsie{sic} has been held to the grand jury under $1000 bonds.Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows this was Estella (Wiltse) who was born July 7, 1857 and died June 4, 1897. She is buried in Riverside Cemetery.
