M.L. Troutner Dead 45 Years A Resident of This County

Died of Heart Attack at His Home in Charles City Saturday Noon. Funeral Was Held Tuesday.

Martin L. Troutner, for 45 years a resident of Chickasaw County and 36 years a resident of Charles City, died suddenly of a heart attack at 12:30 noon in his home.

We are told, he suffered his first heart attack at the funeral of his niece Blanche Mead-Evans who with her husband met death in an automobile accident.

Mr. Troutner's funeral was held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon from the Grossman Funeral Home in Charles City. Services were conducted by Dr. E. W. Huelster, pastor of the First Congregational Church. Burial was beside his first wife, Len Gunn Troutner who preceded him in death many years ago.

Martin Troutner was one of the first white children born in Chickasaw County and was one of nine children of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Troutner, who journeyed in a wagon from Indiana to Chickasaw County in 1853. While still in the teens he became interested in the livestock industry and was dubbed the "kid livestock buyer."

From his father's farm, Mr. Troutner moved to Nashua, then to Ionia and in 1899 moved to Charles City. He was for some time interested in a large stock ranch in Nebraska and for many years handled farm real estate in connection with his business.

The deceased is survived by his widow, Mrs. Troutner, a niece, Adlet Kent, and a daughter, Mrs. Harry Wolf of Jamestown, North Dakota. A sister, Mrs. Frank Stromberg of Charles City and a brother, Henry, of Waterloo also survive.

Mart Troutner is well remembered by people of the west part of this county, prior to his moving to Floyd county. For years afterward he kept in touch with his old friends of Ionia, Chickasaw, Bassett and Nashua and was a frequent visitor in New Hampton. (obituary was cut at this point and the remainder is unknown.)
