July 6, 1954 - May 18, 2020

Obituary

Richard Allan Chamney It is with a heavy heart through tears and relief that our sweet Richard is now in the arms of our Lord.

Richard was born July 6, 1954 to Don and Eleanor Chamney in Charles City, Iowa. Richard met his Maker on May 18, 2020 due to complications of the COVID-19 virus.

He is survived by his siblings: Dennis (Susan), Sara (Charles) Prizler, Brian, and Bruce (Janis); by two loving nieces, Erica Chamney and Carissa (Alex) Wilson and their baby Rowen.

He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Richard grew up in Evansdale, Iowa graduating from River Hills School. He has lived in various group homes with Exceptional Persons meeting many people and remembering each one with smiles and hugs. Richard worked at Key VII (now North Star) earning a 10 year recognition award.

His final years were spent at Harmony House where he enjoyed watching movies and laughing with his roommate. Richard was able to recite and sing the songs from his favorite movie, The Wizard of Oz. He even met and had his picture taken with two of the original munchkins.

His love for life showed through his faith. He accepted Christ into his heart after a family outing to watch a play, The Passion of the Christ. It was a beautiful sight to behold. Richard will be missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of Richard’s life is set at a later date when family and friends can safely get together.

Cards and condolences may be left with Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, 300 West Ridgeway Avenue, Waterloo, IA 50701, who is assisting the family.
