Obituary – Mrs. Herman Kock
Elizabeth Gilson Kock was born Oct. 9th, 1883, at Black Creek, Wisconsin, and died Dec 22, 1918, in her home in Charles City, Iowa, 1300 Clark Street. She came to Rockford, Iowa, in 1899 to live with her sister, Mrs. Albert Kock. On October 7, 1900, she was married to Herman Kock. To this union three children were born. In 1909 she and her husband united with the Methodist church at Marble Rock, Iowa and in 1910 she united with the German Methodist church at Charles City. She was a loving true-hearted wife and a kind and affectionate mother and her presence will be greatly missed in the family circle. She was taken sick with influenza, which developed pneumonia, and although everything possible was done for her, she gradually failed till after a few days of intense suffering she passed peacefully away, leaving to her loved ones the testimony that she trusted the Lord Jesus for her salvation. She leaves her sorrowing husband, three children, Mildred, Merle and Margaret; one grandson, her mother, Mrs. Pauline Pfefferkorn, three brothers, four sisters – John Gilson of Green Bay, Wis.; Peter Gilson of Ontanagon, Mich.; Henry Gilson of Charles City; Mrs. James Papineau of Rockfrod, Iowa; Mrs. Albert Kock of Charles City; and Mrs. Charles Faw of Ackley, Iowa. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. F. H. Thiel on Tuesday afternoon from the late home and interment was made in Riverside.
