Cari Jo Tyler

Cari Jo Tyler was born on April 29, 1980 in Waterloo, daughter of Cathy Jensen and Bob Elder Jr. She graduated from West High School in 1998. After graduation Cari continued working at Kimball Avenue Drug Store as a Pharmacy Tech. In 2005, Cari began working in the Pharmacy at Allen Memorial Hospital.

On June 7, 2003 Cari was united in marriage to Joey Tyler, they later divorced. They welcomed their son Kaleb Joseph Tyler on October 24, 2006. Kaleb immediately became the center of Cari’s world. Cari enjoyed going to sporting events, especially Kaleb’s. Together they enjoyed watching the Hawkeyes, Kansas City Chiefs and the Seattle Seahawks – Kaleb’s favorite team. Cari enjoyed taking Kaleb on trips, they recently went on a trip to Florida where they enjoyed swimming with dolphins. Cari courageously fought breast cancer for 4.5 years. Through those years she always was positive, had a smile on her face and was always helping others before herself. Her family and son will remember her for being the most loveable person and mom.

Cari Tyler died on November 20, 2019 at Cedar Valley Hospice House surround by family and friends at age 39.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Don and LaVon Griffith; paternal great-grandparents, Lawrence and Romelda Klein; uncle, Brian Griffith; cousin, Tommy Jensen and former step mother, Pam Elder.

Cari was survived by her parents, Cathy (Jim) Jensen and Bob (Penny) Elder Jr; son, Kaleb Tyler; brothers, Tom Elder, Bobby Elder III, Timmy Jensen, Dustin (Krystal) Martens; sisters, Becky (Lance) Delagardelle, Amanda (Scott) Hunt, Brooke (Dylan) DeMoss, Jossalyn Elder and a sister friend Shelli (Bryon) Alstat, paternal grandparents, Robert and Kathey Elder, 10 nieces and 3 nephews and a dog Molly.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Beyond Pink Team and the Cedar Bend Humane Society.
