January 3, 1941 - June 29, 2019

Elaine Wedeking, 78, of Charles City, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 29, 2019, at the Nora Springs Care Center in Nora Springs surrounded by her loving family.

A funeral Mass for Elaine Wedeking will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Reverend Gary Mayer celebrating the Mass. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Charles City.

Visitation will be at Hauser Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2019 with a scripture service beginning at 4:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour before the funeral Mass at the church on Wednesday.

Elaine Marie Laures, the daughter of Vincent and Ida (Schueller) Laures, was born on January 3, 1941, in North Washington, Iowa. She graduated from North Washington High School.

She was united in marriage to Roger Wedeking on November 7, 1959, in North Washington, Iowa. They made their home in the New Hampton area before settling in the Charles City area to raise their six children.

Elaine worked with the Charles City Community School District as a bus driver and cook for 30 years. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Bernadette Circle, bowling league (where she was a secretary), and participated in women’s slow pitch softball. She enjoyed hummingbirds, dancing, sewing and making personalized baby quilts for each grandchild, gardening, baking, cooking, jigsaw puzzles, and playing games. Elaine loved her family more than anything and will be missed by all who loved her.

Living family members include her six children: Kevin Wedeking of Osage, Kristine Sindt of Charles City, Kyle (Renae) Wedeking of Charles City, Kimberly (Frank) Hackenmiller of Osage, Kerri (Jack) Tynan of Charles City and Kurt (Amy) Wedeking of Charles City; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters: Marlene Weigel and Diane (Dave) Brandt; brother, Cletus (Jean) Laures; along with several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and stepmother; husband, Roger Wedeking on December 7, 2018; brothers, Kenny, Dale, and Virgil; sister, Rita Burgart; and daughter-in-law, Sherry Wedeking.
