April 5, 1933 - August 2, 2019
Keith “Mac” McInroy, 86, of Charles City, Iowa, passed away at his home on August 2, 2019.
According to his wishes, Mac has been cremated and a celebration of life will be held on September 14, 2019, from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. at 1834 Cedar View Road in Charles City.
Keith “Mac” Vernon McInroy was born April 5, 1933, in Saratoga, Iowa, to Carl and Emma (Horstman) McInroy and grew up on the family farm. He graduated from Riceville High School and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
Mac was married to Vivian Ahern and they had five children: Sheri, Madonna, Rhonda, Steve and Julie. The couple later divorced.
In 1975, Mac married Gayle Otterman and the couple was blessed with two sons: Wade and Ward.
Mac was one of the last White Farm workers before they closed their doors. He then worked for Exel Motors and the DOT.
Mac will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, especially fishing on Lake Mille Lac in Minnesota with family and friends. He also enjoyed playing cards at the bowling alley in the early mornings. Mac was an avid Hawkeye and Vikings fan which is one of the reasons his celebration of life will be held on the Iowa vs. Iowa State weekend.
Mac’s family would like to thank Hospice of North Iowa for their kind and loving support.
Living family members include his wife, Gayle; children: Sheri McInroy (Ed Whitehill) of Mason City, Madonna (Jim) Swartzbaugh of California, Rhonda (Bill) Hugunin of Iowa, Steve (Jeanne) McInroy of Utah, Julie (Jim) Byrd of Tennessee, Wade (Char) McInroy of Minnesota and Ward (Rachel) McInroy of Minnesota; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Orville, Jim and Jerry McInroy all of Cedar Rapids; along with several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Mac was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Emma McInroy.
