DEATH OF A. G. CASE.
The Well-Known Capitalist and Banker of Charles City Dies Oct. 19th, 1904.
The Charles City Intelligencer informs us that Almon G. Chase{sic} died on Wednesday last week, aged 72 years, 7 months and 27 days. Death resulted from an illness that began on the 11th inst. and terminated in pneumonia. Born in Wayne Co., N. Y., in 1832, he was given a liberal education, studied law, and came to Iowa in 1856, settled in Bradford. Chickasaw Co., from which he moved to Charles City in 1871. He early developed ability as a financier, and years ago was recognized as a rich man. The Intelligencer speaks of him as one who “hewed from the rough by his own abilities a fortune of no mean proportions, and leaves behind him a record alike worthy and creditable. No man in the city or county was better known than was he, and he will long be kindly remembered by all who knew him.”
