Bonnie Johanns, 77, of Charles City, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at her home with her family by her side.
A gathering of family and friends will be at Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2019. Inurnment will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery in New Haven, Iowa at a later date.
Bonnie Mae (Boyer) Johanns, the daughter of Lyle and Arlene (Hoisington) Boyer, was born January 22, 1942 in Charles City. She attended school and graduated from Colwell High School in 1959. In 1961 she was united in marriage to Leonard Johanns and this union was blessed with two sons: Tim and Terry. The couple made their home in the Osage and New Haven areas.
Bonnie worked with her husband as bookkeeper for Johanns Tiling, but primarily stayed at home to raise their two boys. She enjoyed living by the river at both the home place near New Haven and in Charles City. Bonnie loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She wintered in Arizona and Texas and had many friendships that developed over the years.
Living family members include her two sons: Tim (Amy) Johanns of Stacyville and Terry (Brenda) Johanns of New Haven; grandchildren and families: Jeremie (Laurie) Johanns of Kanawha and their son Jackson, Jessie Johanns of Iowa Falls, Taylor Johanns of Plymouth and his children Harley and Leo, Gillian Johanns of New Haven, Corin Johanns of New Haven, Brandon (Allison) Castro of Austin, Minnesota and their children Brody and Rori and Jordan Castro of Austin, Minnesota; sister, Cheryl Meek of Charles City; her beloved dog, Abby Jo; along with numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Arlene Boyer; husband, Leonard on February 5, 1997; granddaughter, Jackie Johanns; and brother, Raymond Boyer.
