CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Dean Marzen, 57, of Charles City, died Friday, Dec. 14, at home. Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, at Messiah Lutheran Church, Charles City, with Pastor Daniel Larson from Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating, and burial in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m.
Wednesday, Dec. 19 at Hauser Funeral Home, and for an hour prior to services at the church; memorials to the Charles City Police Department to be used towards the Bicycle Rodeo. Online condolences at www.hauserfh.com , (641) 228-2323.

Dean Marzen, 57, of Charles City, passed away Friday, December 14, 2018 at his home.
A funeral service for Dean Marzen will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Charles City with Pastor Daniel Larson from Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.
Visitation will be at Hauser Funeral Home from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2018 and will continue one hour before the funeral service at the church on Thursday.
Dean Christopher Marzen, the son of Kenneth and Rose (Naumann) Marzen, was born on May 18, 1961 in Charles City, Iowa. He attended Nashua and Charles City schools, and graduated from Hawkeye Institute of Technology. Dean was united in marriage to Kimberly Schrage on December 9, 1983 at Messiah Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in Charles City and were blessed with their son, Jesse.
Dean began his career in the automotive field in 1979 at Ken’s Standard Station. He and his brother Dan purchased the station in 1982 and it became Marzen’s Standard. They purchased their first tow truck in 1984. Dean and Kim owned and operated Marzen’s Towing and Automotive until 2018.
Dean was a member of Harley Owners Group (HOG), Moose Lodge, and the Elks. His hobbies included riding his Harley motorcycle with Kim, coin collecting, elk hunting, and gardening. Dean most of all loved his family and spending quality time with his grandchildren.
Living family members include his son and daughter-in-law, Jesse and Kari Marzen of Clarksville; four grandchildren: Tyler, Noah, Isaiah and Liliana Marzen; siblings: Greg (Taiwana) of Durham, North Carolina, Dan (Jeri) of Bondurant, Iowa, Douglas of Iowa City, Iowa, Connie (Patrick) Tapp of Nashua, Iowa, Carmel Hall of Stanton, Kentucky, Katherine (Tim) Beckler of Tipton, Iowa, and Philip of Maquoketa, Iowa; sister-in-law, Susan Marzen; mother-in-law, Sandy Schrage; sisters-in-law: Kelly (Paul) Baron, Kathy (Glenn) Sansburn, and Konnie (Rick) Stewart; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and countless friends.
Dean was preceded in death by his devoted and loving wife of 35 years, Kim on August 13, 2018; by his parents; his father-in-law, Linus Schrage; siblings: Dianne, Rebecca, and Patrick; brother-in-law, Myron “Pete” Hall; and niece, Sherry Marzen.
Memorials can be directed to the Charles City Police Department to be used towards the Bicycle Rodeo.
