Andrew “Andy” Aird, 60, of Charles City, passed away Monday, November 19, 2018 at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

A funeral service for Andy Aird will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Charles City with Pastor Jim Beranek officiating. Burial will be at Sunnyside Memory Gardens in rural Charles City.

Visitation will be at Hauser Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 23, 2018 and will continue one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.

Andrew Arthur Aird, the son of John and Doris (Bucknell) Aird, was born October 3, 1958 in Charles City, Iowa. He received his education in Charles City graduating with the Class of 1977. Andy furthered his education at Marshalltown Community College and UNI graduating with his Bachelor’s Degree. He then attended Hamburger University in Chicago so he could manage the McDonald’s in Charles City.

In 1987, Andy began working at Solvay in quality department, worked his way up in training and ended as the Human Resources Manager. He worked there until leaving Zoetis in 2016. Andy then began working at Cambrex in Human Resources in the fall of 2016 and retired in April of 2017.

Andy was united in marriage to Lori Jones on May 20, 1989 at Trinity United Methodist Church and this union was blessed with two daughters, Amy and Lisa. He loved his family very much, and they meant the world to him. Andy looked forward to their annual Winnie Trips with other family and friends which took place the second weekend in June every year.

Andy was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Freeman Street Singers, Route 66, Damascus Road, National Wildlife Turkey Federation, Pheasants Forever, Trinity Car Club and his Unofficial Card Club that played every New Year’s Day and watched football. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, outdoor adventures, making movies, driving his cars and organizing the “Ted Trainer Fall Classic” fishing tournament. Andy will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Living family members include his wife, Lori of Charles City; two daughters: Amy Aird of Grimes and Lisa (Mitch) Blair of Cedar Falls; grandson, Owen Blair; brother, Alan (Colleen) Aird of Charles City; sister, Karla Breed of Marshalltown; mother-in-law, Carol Jones; nieces and nephews: Kris (Phil) Does, Linda (Ron) Pexa, Aaron (Sandy) Aird, Anne Nelson, Angie Aird, Heather Jones and Duane Jones; along with other family members and countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Doris and John Aird; two brothers-in-law: Gary Breed and LeRoy Jones; father-in-law, Wayne Jones; and cousin, Ted Trainer.
