Obituary for Beverly "Bev" Haugen
Beverly Haugen, age 94, formerly of Cresco passed away on October 20, 2018 at the Chautauque Home in Charles City, Iowa.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 11 am at the First Lutheran Church in Cresco. Friends may call from 4 - 7 pm on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco and one hour prior to services at the church.
Beverly June Haugen was born on June 9, 1924 to Clarence and Esther (Edwards) Truman in Colfax, WI. When Bev was young she loved to spend time swimming and playing in the snow with her brother and three sisters. She was a graduate of Cresco High School after moving to Cresco with her family during her junior year.
In 1942, Bev married Gordon Haugen and together they raised eight children. She spent most of her years being a homemaker and taking care of her family. Once her children were all grown, she took on babysitting the Lindstrom family. She was also a cook at the Cresco Meal-site for almost 20 years.
She loved spending time with her family, including going for rides in the car with her daughter, Deanna and always making sure to stop for ice cream. Bev loved to travel, making several stops around the United States. Her good friends Eleanor Solomon and Betty Cleveland made good travel companions on her many trips.
Bev is survived by her children: Linda (Ron) Gobin, Deanna Tibbitts, Cheri (Larry) Zubrod, Roger (Julie) Haugen, Ron Haugen, Randy (Sara) Haugen and Genise (Dennis) Aretz, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and her brother Dean (Darlene) Truman.
She is preceded in death by parents; her husband Gordon; son Rich Haugen; a son-in-law Roger Tibbitts; grandchildren: Michael Zubrod, Roxanne Gobin and Justin Haugen and sisters: Wilma, Lois and Marion.
