CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Darlene 'Dolly' Benton, 77, of Charles City, passed away Friday, August 10, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Hauser Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Carlson officiating. Burial will take place at Sunnyside Memory Gardens in rural Charles City. A gathering of family and friends will take place one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at Hauser Funeral Home.

Darlene “Dolly” Benton, 77, of Charles City, Iowa, passed away Friday, August 10, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City, Iowa.

A funeral service for Dolly Benton will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Hauser Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Carlson officiating. Burial will take place at Sunnyside Memory Gardens in rural Charles City.

A gathering of family and friends will take place one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at Hauser Funeral Home.

Darlene “Dolly” Mary (Oliver) Benton was born October 20, 1940, to William A. and Myrtle Margret (Daly) Oliver. She graduated from Charles City High School in 1959. Dolly married Farris Ray Benton on August 27, 1961.

Dolly worked for Dutch Oven Bakery from 1960- 1964. She loved to bake. In her younger years she could really grow an amazing garden. She loved to watch NASCAR, basketball, and baseball. She enjoyed doing ceramics and going to craft shows. Most of all, Dolly loved her small family.

Living family members include son, Rick of Charles City; daughter, Nicole of Burleson, Texas; grandchildren: RJ and Alex Rodriguez; step-daughter, Nancy (Paul) Mandzuk; grandchildren: Caitlin and Kevin; great-granddaughter, Ellie; brother, Tommy (Donna) Oliver of Charles City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Farris Benton; son, Rodney Benton; and her parents.
