Marjorie Mae (Spurbeck) Pierson, the daughter of Bertram and Ivy (Erion) Spurbeck, was born September 9, 1919 above the grocery store in Colwell. She received her education in Charles City, graduating from Charles City High School in 1938. After graduation, Marge worked at the Charles City Western Depot before her marriage.

On June 27, 1939, she was united in marriage to Leonard Pierson in Spencer. The couple made their home in Waterloo for a short time before moving to Charles City and they were blessed with their daughter, Constance "Connie".

Marge worked for a short time at the Spurgeons Store and at Circle K Communications, but she was primarily at home helping raise Connie and take care of the household. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, jigsaw puzzles, playing cards, dancing (especially to the Big Band sounds of her youth), working word searches and gardening (taking great care of her red raspberry patch). Marge also had a large collection of decorative plates and precious moments that the family still cherish in her memory.

Marge was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Eastern Star (serving as an officer) and the Moose Lodge. She loved spending time with her family and helped raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marge would baby-sit and transport them to different events they were involved in as well as attend every program, ball game or concert they had.

Living family members include her daughter, Connie Swant of Charles City; four grandchildren: Tammy (Dan) Elthon of Charles City, Terry (Ana) Swant of Rockford, Lori Swant and Brad Swant both of Homosassa, Florida; six great-grandchildren: Andy (Abbey) Elthon, Matt (Angie) Elthon, Shaun (Katie) Swant, Justin Swant (Ashley Connerly), Nicholas Swant and Harley Jane Phelps; three great-great grandchildren: Benjamin, Jackson and Ethan; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard; son-in-law, Ken Swant; and brother, Clayton (Betty) Spurbeck.
