November 12, 1932 - May 12, 2018

GREENE, IOWA - Funeral Mass for Bonnie Lynch 85, of Greene, will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 18, 2018, with Rev. Msgr. Walter Brunkan officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.

Friends may call at Retz Funeral Home, 519 N. First St. Greene, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday. There will be a Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m.

Bonnie Lou was born, November 12, 1932, in Floyd County, Iowa, a daughter of John H. and Mary (Marzen) Meek and died on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at North Iowa Mercy Medical Center in Mason City. She received her education at the Sacred Heart Academy in Greene and later attended Greene High School, graduating in 1950.

She moved to Charles City after graduation where she worked as a bookkeeper for Bell Telephone. She would later transfered with the company to Omaha Nebraska. On April 26, 1958, she was united in marriage to Harold Lynch. Together they had three children, Raymond, Annette and Patrick.

After divorcing in 1969 she returned to Greene to take care of her mother and raise her children. She later worked as a bookkeeper for the Candle Shop and Dralle's Department Store in Greene.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Greene and St. Joseph Circle. In her early years she enjoyed playing Softball and was an award winning bowler. Throughout the years she followed her children's school and athletic activities. She enjoyed watching Notre Dame Football and Iowa State Basketball. She loved playing cards and enjoyed the company of family and friends.

Bonnie will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and loving friend to all who knew her.

Bonnie is survived by a Daughter Annette (David Hall) Lynch of Mesa, AZ: two sons Raymond Lynch of Charles City and Patrick (Sheila) Lynch of Naperville, IL; a granddaughter Shannon Lynch of Naperville, IL; a sister Faye Porter of Bellevue, NE; a sister-in-law Cheryl Meek of Charles City and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers: John E. Meek, Wayne Meek, Donald Meek and Richard Meek; and by four sisters: Virginia Reams, Mary Jean Ramker, Shirley Schalangen and Ruth Heitland.

Those planning an express of sympathy may direct memorials to the American Kidney Association in care of the family.
