Date Of Birth: February 23, 1946
Date Of Death: April 12, 2018

Service: A funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City.

A private family inurnment at Calvary Cemetery in Charles City will take place at a later date.

A visitation will be held at Hauser Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 16, 2018 with a Scripture Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the funeral Mass on Tuesday at the church.

Harold Dwayne Ver Meer was born February 23, 1946 to Gerritt and Jeanette (Mulder) Ver Meer in Perkins, Iowa. He attended schools in Perkin until 8th grade and then went to Boyden High School. Harold worked at Hull Creamier, Cherokee Mental Hospital, and a slaughter house.

Harold joined the Airforce and was stationed at Vietnam (medic) and The Clark (Airforce base in Angeles City, Philippines where he met the love of his wife Nilda Torda). Harold and Nilda were married on September 30, 1967, and moved to the United States in February of 1968, where they lived in North Dakota until Harold's enlistment was completed. Harold then entered into the USDA Inspection Service for 32 years until his retirement.

Harold was involved with the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and VFW. He was a volunteer at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and was very active with his church.

Harold is survived by his children: Jim (Pam) Ver Meer of Mason City and Jeff (Christine Nelson) Ver Meer of Waverly; four grandchildren: Jessica, Zachary, Courtney and Alexis; eight great-grandchildren (lived with great-grandson Alexander James Ver Meer); three sisters and two brothers.

Another loss of a very good friend. We have known Harry and Nilda since the mid 1980's. Their loss is very sad and they both will be missed by us forever. God bless you Harry and Nilda. Love you and will miss you guys.
