October 27, 1951 - April 1, 2018

RUDD - John R. Hayungs Jr. 67, of Rudd, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018, at his home in Rudd.

A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 5, 2018 at the Rudd United Methodist Church, 611 6th Street, Rudd, with Pastor Jim Roth and Wendy Johannesen officiating. Burial will be in the Rudd Evergreen Cemetery. The family requests casual attire to be worn the day of the service.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 North Hawkeye, Nora Springs.

In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be directed to the family.

John R. Hayungs Jr. was born October 27, 1951 in Charles City, Iowa, the son of John Hayungs Sr. and Betty Raymond. He attended the Rockford Senior High. After high school, he traveled to Illinois to work with his brothers, Darrell and Dave, for Pro Remodeling until 1980. John moved back after 1980, and began working on various farms in the Rudd area, and also for Mike Marshall, in Nora Springs. He worked as a carpenter until his eyesight deteriorated.

He was a member of the Rudd United Methodist Church.

John enjoyed spending time outside and fishing. He could also be found playing board games on his down time.

John is survived by his brother, Darrell Hayungs, of Rudd; sister, Karen Courter, of Rudd; niece, Lisa Courter, of Forest City, and two dogs, Sadie and Bella.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Sr. and Betty Hayungs; brother, David Hayungs; sister, Sharon Hayungs; brother, Richard Hayungs, and extended family members.
